This handmade felted wool purse or tote bag, created by the late Jackie Hansen, is a truly unique and artisanal item. Each purse is hand-knitted, machine felted in hot water, and then blocked into shape. Once the purse dries, it should not be exposed to water again. For cleaning, it can be wiped gently with a slightly damp cloth, but the best way to remove dust or stray threads is by using a lint roller.
Key Features:
- Purse Feet: Protect the base of the purse from damage.
- Magnetic Snap Closures: Provides easy opening and secure closure.
- Lining: Fully lined with pre-washed cotton fabrics or silk.
- Reinforced Base: Includes a foam core base reinforced with Plexiglas for added durability.
Care Instructions:
- Storage: To store, move the solid base sideways and lay the purse on its side. When ready to use, return the base to a flat position and fluff the embellishment ribbons and eyelash yarns.
- Moth Protection: The wool is tagged as moth-proofed, but storing the bag with a few mothballs in a small container or bag is recommended for additional protection.
Handle Options:
- Hand-carry bags feature either wooden or polyester handles.
- Newer bags feature metal handles adorned with a variety of beads, including glass Pandora-style beads placed to avoid contact with hard surfaces. If beads need replacing, the handles can be removed from the rings for easy replacement.
- Shoulder bags come with leather straps, and some include stone beads that are virtually unbreakable.
Additional Care Tips:
- Clean the purse with a damp cloth and use a lint roller to remove dust and threads.
- Proper storage helps maintain the shape and quality of the purse for long-lasting use.
