This unique felted wool purse or tote bag was crafted by the late Jackie Hansen. Each piece is carefully hand-knitted, machine-felted in very hot water, and then shaped. After drying, the purse should not be exposed to water again. It can be gently wiped with a slightly damp cloth if needed, but a lint roller is best for removing dust or stray threads.
All purses feature:
- Purse feet
- Magnetic snap closures
- Fully lined with pre-washed cotton fabrics or silk
- A separate foam core base reinforced with Plexiglas for extra strength
Storage Instructions:
- Move the solid base sideways when storing the purse and lay it on its side.
- When you’re ready to use it again, push the base back down flat and fluff up the embellishment ribbons and eyelash yarns on the outside.
- Although the wools are moth-proofed, it’s a good idea to store the purse with a few mothballs in a small container or baggy for added protection.
Handle Options:
- Some hand-carry bags feature wooden or polyester handles.
- Newer designs have metal handles adorned with Pandora-style beads, which may include glass beads, but non-breakable beads are positioned to touch hard surfaces first.
- If a bead needs replacing, the handles can be detached from the rings, allowing for easy bead replacement.
- Shoulder bags come with leather straps, with some featuring stone beads that are virtually unbreakable.
Care Instructions:
- Wipe with a damp cloth for light cleaning or use a lint roller to remove dust and stray threads.
- Store carefully to maintain the structure of the purse, especially with regard to the foam base and exterior ribbons.
