This handmade wool purse or tote bag is created by the late Jackie Hansen. Each piece is unique, hand-knitted, and machine felted in very hot water before being blocked into shape. Once the purse dries, water is no longer its friend. It can be carefully wiped with a slightly damp cloth if needed, but a lint roller is best for removing dust or stray threads.
Key Features:
- Purse feet to protect the bottom
- Magnetic snap closures for security
- Fully lined with pre-washed cotton fabrics or silk
- Reinforced foam core base with Plexiglas for added strength
Storage & Care Instructions:
- When storing, move the solid base sideways and lay the purse on its side.
- Before use, push the base flat in the bag and fluff the embellishment ribbons and eyelash yarns.
- The wools used are moth-proofed; however, storing with mothballs in a small container or baggy is advised for added protection.
Handle Options:
- Some hand-carry bags feature wooden or polyester handles.
- Newer bags come with metal handles adorned with various Pandora-style beads (some possibly glass), designed so non-breakable beads touch the hard surface first.
- If a bead needs replacing, the handles can be detached from the rings for easy replacement.
- Shoulder bags feature leather straps, some with stone beads that are virtually unbreakable.
Additional Care:
- Wipe gently with a damp cloth for cleaning and use a lint roller to keep the purse looking tidy.
- Proper storage will preserve the shape and integrity of the purse, especially regarding the foam base and exterior embellishments.
