This beautifully handcrafted wool purse or tote bag, created by the late Jackie Hansen, is a unique piece. Each bag is hand-knitted and machine felted in very hot water, then blocked into shape. Once dry, the purse no longer tolerates water, so it should be wiped carefully with a damp cloth when necessary, and a lint roller is best for removing dust or stray threads.
Key Features:
- Purse feet to protect the bottom.
- Magnetic snap closures for added security.
- Fully lined with pre-washed cotton fabrics or silk.
- A foam core base reinforced with Plexiglas for enhanced durability and strength.
Storage & Care Instructions:
- For proper storage, move the solid base sideways and lay the purse on its side.
- Before use, push the base flat again and fluff up the ribbons and eyelash yarns on the outside.
- Although the wool used is moth-proofed, it’s advisable to store the purse with mothballs in a small container or baggy to ensure extra protection.
Handle Options:
- Some hand-carry bags come with wooden or polyester handles.
- Newer bags feature a variety of beads on metal handles. Some of these beads may be glass but are positioned to ensure that the non-breakable beads touch the hard surface first.
- If beads need replacing, the handles can be detached from the rings and opened for easy replacement.
- Shoulder bags are designed with leather straps, and some include stone beads that are virtually unbreakable.
Additional Tips:
- The purse can be wiped gently with a damp cloth for cleaning.
- Using a lint roller helps to maintain its appearance by removing dust and stray threads.
